Dodgy mechanics take note…..My car began to overheat, even though there was enough water and coolant in the radiator, the garage assured me they had fixed the fault, but 3 days later the same thing happened.
As you can imagine the mechanic was very unhelpful and said as he’d fixed the first fault he would have to take the car back in and charge me again. Not being one to accept this (or want to pay again!), I decided to check out my rights and found out that consumer law states when a ‘service’ is provided, it has to be with a satisfactory level of skill and care.
In other words, the goods mean the ‘thingamabob’ being fixed has got to be of a reasonable quality and either the person in the wrong puts it right or compensates you to get the service from somewhere else.
And the mechanic….he fixed the fault for free!
